Ellakyn Brinkley is a South Carolina-based percussionist and educator dedicated to excellence through collaborative music-making. She is currently completing her Bachelor's degree in Music at the University of South Carolina under the mentorship of Dr. Scott Herring. A milestone in her performance career includes appearing with the University of South Carolina Percussion Ensemble at the 2024 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) as part of the prestigious IPEC showcase.
Driven by a mission to champion representation, Ellakyn is the founder of the euFOURia quartet, which she established to showcase the work of women composer, arrangers, and performers. Through this initiative, she seeks to celebrate representation in the percussion arts. As of 2026, she has become a member of the Wildlight Collective, a professional percussion ensemble dedicated to new percussion repertoire and diverse composer representation.
As a teacher, Ellakyn's pedagogy is rooted in versatility and injury prevention. She believes that a sustainable career in percussion begins with a foundation of ergonomic movement and a well-rounded skill set across all instruments. She actively applies her leadership skills as a music director at a local church, bridging the gap between professional artistry and community service. Whether on the stage or in the classroom, she is driven by a mission to provide high-quality instruction and to foster a vibrant, healthy, and community-focused percussion culture in her home state.
